Gas discharge tube (GDT), as an important protective device, has been developed and employed for the protection of circuit against high-power electromagnetic energy. Accurate description property GDT is critical its practical applications. However, under excitation microwave (HPM), how will respond whether can still exhibit performance remain unclear. Herein, response characteristics to HPM were studied in this article. With increment voltage, time decreases exponentially, eventually reaching about 10 ns. The suppression ratio energy attain 90%. dynamic breakdown voltage arc-mode continuously increase increased. Specifically, nearly exhibits a linearly increasing trend. Moreover, was simulated by using PSpice model. simulations are good agreement with experimental results, indicating model be used predicting behaviors HPM.
